San Marcos of Corcubion of night

Corcubion s a city council that is composed by two parishes: San Marcos and Redonda.

San Marcos is the urban zone and the most populated for receiving the municipal capital. In this route go to visit this parish.

We split of the Castelao Square. This is the main square of Corcubion, at the side of the maritime walk and with a small palmeral.

Looking to the sea and crossing the road AC-442, have in front the oriel of Don Benigno Lago.

From this oriel can advance to the left of the maritime walk. Strolling by the can see a series of bourgeois buildings very notable, some of them with some playgrounds flowering very beautiful. Also we will see the oriel of Don Ramon Pais from where can contemplate a good panoramic of the villa.

Walking by the walk also can admire the beauty of the inlet and the estuary of Corcubion.

We advance by the walk until arriving to the building of the Hotel The Horreo and the poster that it begins Cee (the neighbouring villa of Corcubion). At the side of this poster that indicates the separation between the two villas, there is a slope steep to the left. Before the slope can see a frame km of the way of Santiago that it indicates us that we are to something more than 14 Km of the Cape Fisterra.

We go up by this slope and go through the cruise of Baldomar until arriving to the rear part of the Hotel The Horreo. There also will find one of the a lot of horreos that exist in Corcubion.

Sight of Corcubion from the Alameda

A bit further up we arrive to the zone of the Alameda from where can contemplate a beautiful sight of the villa, with his disposal in amphitheatre on the inlet, and of the port to the estuary chaired at the end by the mountain of the Pindo.

In this moment have to take one of the two streets that appear. We go on down the one of the right, that follows upwards.

We happen then by a narrow street (Salvador Allende) that meanders until arriving to the camp of San Antonio. Afterwards we go to divert us to know better Corcubion.

In the Camp of San Antonio find us with San Antonio capel (12th century) and a cruise of the same name.

Afterwards we go down by a narrow street and empinada that goes down southward and to the centre of the villa. This is the street Perigos and is worth it by his singularity and any of the houses that there is in her.

We go down to the end of this street and end in the street of Rafael Juan and continue until the one of Antonio Porrua. Both formed part of the ancient Real street where find good examples of traditional houses corcubionesas.

In this street can contemplate several houses blasonadas ( Castrexe House our the pazo de los Dios y Pose) and the Pilar capel.

Advancing between singular houses go back to the square of Castelao. By this part by which arrive can see the Miñones House, another singular building of this sailor villa. In front it is one of the public sources that still exist in Corcubion, the source of the Catro Caños.

At the side of this palmeral, to the right are born several very small streets that arrive until the house of the City Council, the Jose Carrera building. In front of this building is the municipal market of Corcubion.

From the square of the concello can know the part "back" of Corcubion, very rich in corners at least particular. We recommend to the visitor that lose a bit by this zone, having always like reference the Castelao Square, easily recognizable.

We split again of the Castelao Square. Have still big part of the urban core of Corcubion for visiting. Looking south there are 3 streets that split of the square.

The nearest to the sea is the Saint street Marcos. In her, we find to the left the Pazo de los Condes de Altamira, property and dwelt of the ancient gentlemen of Corcubion and from where administered jurisdiction on more than 20 parishes. This jurisdiction was a mix of court and city council current with attributions in the collection of taxes and in levy them of soldiers.

Advancing by this street can admire other notable houses and arrive until the square Rector Francisco Sanchez, where finds the San Marcos Surch of Corcubion. In addition to the church, can admire one of the most beautiful squares of the villa.

We continue by the street that goes up, the one of the Mercedes. In the half of the street in front of a small square with a cruise, can admire one of the houses blasonadas that has Corcubion, the call Teixeira House.

Continuing arrive to the Camp of Rollo, ideal collected square to rest or play the boys. We go back to recommend to the visitors that lose a bit by the streets of this part of Corcubion and discover the singular corners that can find. From the Camp do Rollo continuing a bit southward is situated the ancient pazo de los Traba fetter gentlemen of Corcubion.

From here we go back on our steps to the Field do Roll and descend in a northerly direction. The first house to the left is the building of the ancient court. Continuing to the left arrive to the Medico Carrera Square, where finds the only bakery of Corcubion (bakery Corcubion), the Sendon House of sober facade chaired by a blason and some another interesting example of traditional house.

Pots of Corcubion

From here by a small street go down again to the Castelao Square.

To little distance is the port of Corcubion, where finds the old jail. In the port can see the boats and boats, the pots and the rest of rigs of fishing that use the sailors of the vila. Here it is situated the market and the building of the nautic club.

Of the port goes out a maritime walk that goes hit to the sea in a southerly direction. This pleasant walk advances until arriving to the Quenxe beach. From there it can go back by the same walk or following the road in a northerly direction.

And like this, we will go back to the Castelao square, principle and end of our urban route of Corcubion.
